Record Number of Cars Sold 2010

Malaysia: The total vehicle sales in Malaysia grew 13% to hit an all-time high of 605,156 units last year, surpassing the previous record of 552,316 units achieved in 2005, with the trend expected to continue in 2011.

According to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), the local automotive industry is expected to hit another all-time total industry volume (TIV) high of 618,000 units in 2011 as the positive trends continue this year.

TIV 2011 continues to foster underpinned by continuous positive consumer sentiments due to greater stability in the employment market coupled with multiplier effects from the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) and the Economic Transformation Programme’s (ETP) projects – that are expected to further boost the domestic demand for new vehicles.
