According to the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) 2018, released by the World
Economic Forum (WEF), Malaysia's competitiveness ranked 23rd out of 137 economies.
With
this ranking, it is apparent that Malaysia remains the most competitive economies, and
was the highest ranked among the developing Asian countries. The national development moves beyond a focus on economic growth and
consumerism, wellbeing of the 'Rakyat', quality of life, social equity,
the structure of the economy, as well as the adaptability and quality of
the workforce.
